Wax eligibility

Already prepared for wax?

Chain re-waxing within the Studio Experience is available only for bikes already enrolled in the Bike Studio wax system, where the chain and drivetrain have previously received the required initial decontamination and preparation. Initial conversion to wax, heavily contaminated chains and full drivetrain decontamination are charged separately.

Studio Experience appointments are booked for approximately one hour. Please allow up to 60–90 minutes depending on the bike’s condition and the chain-wax cycle.

Chain waxing

A cleaner, quieter drivetrain.

We use a controlled professional process—not simply a pot of wax. The chain is removed and inspected, then ultrasonically cleaned where required to lift oil and contamination from deep inside the rollers. Once completely dry, it is immersed in heated wax so the lubricant reaches the working surfaces of every link.

Initial wax£40

For a suitable new or fully clean chain. Checked, prepared and hot-waxed before fitting to the bike.

Full conversion£50

Existing lubricant is removed, the drivetrain is decontaminated and the chain receives an ultrasonic deep clean before hot wax.

Re-wax£20

For a chain already converted through the Bike Studio wax system. Removed, refreshed with hot wax and refitted ready to ride.

Repairs & upgrades

Not every bike fits neatly into a package.

Individual repairs, installations and upgrades can be assessed separately. The aim is the same: make the problem clear, recommend the right work and agree the cost before proceeding.

Adjustments & repairs

Brake and gear adjustment, fault finding, cables, chains, cassettes and wear-part replacement.

02

Component upgrades

Installation and setup of compatible groupsets, wheels, cockpits, saddles and other considered upgrades.

03

Contact-point changes

Bar width, stem, saddle and control-position changes, guided by your existing fit information and riding needs.

04

New-bike setup

Assembly checks, control setup, torque checks and practical finishing for a new or recently delivered bike.

05

Pre-event checks

A focused safety and setup check before an important ride or event, subject to workshop availability.

06

Work outside a package

Additional workshop labour is charged at £50 per hour, with the scope agreed before work continues.

How it works

Clear from enquiry
to collection.

  1. 01

    Describe the bike

Tell us the make, model, symptoms and any deadline. Photos or a short video can help with the first assessment.

  2. 02

    Inspect & agree

Where inspection is needed, the bike is assessed before the final scope and price are confirmed.

  3. 03

    Complete the work

The agreed service, repair or upgrade is carried out carefully. Any change is discussed before additional work begins.

  4. 04

    Test & hand over

The bike is checked, the work is explained and any relevant setup or care advice is provided at collection.

Useful answers

Before booking.

Can you service a bike you did not build?

Yes, subject to the type of work, the condition of the bike and workshop availability. The bike may need to be assessed before work is accepted.

Are parts included in the package price?

The package price covers the stated labour. Replacement parts and chargeable consumables are additional and will be agreed before fitting.

What if you find more work is needed?

You will be contacted before the agreed scope or cost changes. Additional work will not simply be added to the bill.

Can I supply my own components?

Potentially. Customer-supplied parts must be inspected for condition, authenticity, compatibility and safe use before fitting is accepted.

Do you work on electronic groupsets?

The Studio Experience includes a Di2 or AXS function check and software updates. More involved diagnostics or component work will be assessed and agreed separately.
